Who Are Ya?
I’m Olufemi Bokinni, I’m a mother of two and also run my own photography business specialising in capturing the first year of a child’s journey. I’m based in London with over 10 years experience in new born and family portraiture.
I currently have my own studio in South East London and it is my own little sanctuary and where create my magic. In my own little world.
I first picked up a camera doing event photography, in parties across London and I just caught the bug. Whilst I no longer exchange pictures for guest-list for me and my mates, I still believe in capturing the good times. My photography has grown with me and now I am all about those family, once-in-a-lifetime moments.
How Did You Get Here?
I fell in love with photography after spending hours taking pictures of my two young children and began working towards turning my hobby into a career starting with getting myself professionally certified. I have always been a very creative person and throughout my working life I have worked around creativity and beauty. From my first Saturday job as a trainee hairdresser to beauty therapy then on to being a nail technician. I then settled on photography and I will never look back as this ticks all the boxes for me. When I worked in event photography at the beginning of my career, I learned how to speak to people and get their best sides no matter what, which definitely helps when dealing with little ones and when it comes to owning my own studio? I genuinely look back and wonder how I have got this far with just myself and my camera and I am a little shocked!
What Sets YOU Apart??
I would say the energy I bring to every session trying to capture your precious memories, I also would say my personality and creative eye I try to input into every session. I like to think of myself as ‘the baby whisperer’ we are yet to have a session where we haven’t got THAT shot yet! *Touches wood*
I offer a range of services from maternity to birthday cake smash sessions and new born photography which is something that is unique to my studio, it means I get to build a relationship with your little family unit and watch as your dinner reservations grow! One of my favourite things is when someone books in for a maternity shoot and then we get baby number 2 and 3 as well. My passion lies in capturing special moments and precious memories, the type of memories that would fade over generations and that is what makes what I do so meaningful.
Next 5 years… Where are ya?
I would like to have a bigger studio training up new photographers and growing my team. I think I will always be a photographer, I have found my “thing” but I definitely want to grow my brand and have the name ‘Olufemi’ known all over!
