A Few (10) Underrated Disney Classics

We have all heard of and (hopefully) seen most of the classic Disney cartoons, from Beauty & The Beast to The Black Cauldron.
Wait, you haven’t seen The Black Cauldron? Well this my friend is written for you. And don’t worry if you have seen it, its still for you but get a load of those guys huh?!
Have a look below for a few of my personal underrated Disney faves that you may have not seen because you have been too busy pretending to love the new Lion King (burrrrn)

THE BLACK CAULDRON
black cauldron

Released in 1985, The Black Cauldron features a quest to find a magic object before the bad guy does. Complete with unstoppable army and magic pig this movie is up there in my top 10 Disney favourites but when asked, hardly any of my friends had seen it.. Shocking.

HOME ON THE RANGE

So a group of cows take it upon themselves to save their ranch from a greedy outlaw… Need I say more? Ok I will, this film was released in 2004 and Cuba Gooding Jr is in it, thats your lot. It’s great. Enjoy.

THE EMPERORS NEW GROOVE
emperors new groove
Known? Yes. Underrated? Completely.
When looking up movies for this list I was actually horrified that this movie isn’t featured on the “Best Disney” lists. It is hilarious and up there with the great, or at least it should be.

ATLANTIS THE LOST EMPIRE
Atlantis
This film was released in 2001 and is potentially, quite possibly one of the best Disney films ever. You probably know the story of the mystical city of Atlantis so I will say no more on this one other than I hope you enjoy (:

THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER

With a villain scarier that Cruella de Vil and a couple of mice who are potentially the most adorable characters the Disney universe have to offer, the fact that most of my friends haven’t seen this movie is an outrage.

THE FOX AND THE HOUND
fox and hound
Did Bambi make you cry? Was there a tear in your eye when Pocahontas lost the coloniser-love-of-her-life? Well then you are in for a bleary eyed treat my friends because this movie is a sad one. Two life long friends + two sworn enemies= 1 brilliant movie.

THE SWORD IN THE STONE
swordin the stone
This may be the one of the more obvious of the “underrated” Disney films and maybe one of the ones you have seen (I do hope so) but I am not sure how much you appreciated this absolute gem of a cartoon. From the wise owl to the 90’s references and the villain in the form of an insecure witch with a chip on her shoulder. This film needs to be watched again

THE GREAT MOUSE DETECTIVE

When a master toy maker is abducted it is up to the GREEEAT MOUSE DETECTIVEEE to help! This is maybe one of the most fun Disney films with mice and rats but no food (hello Ratatouille) Almost makes you not scared of the lil scuttering bad-boys… Almost

BROTHER BEAR
brother bear
Most if not all Disney films have lessons attached but none quite like Brother Bear. This film is gorgeous. Usually you watch a cartoon because your kids/ younger siblings/ nieces or nephews want to but this film? Adult you will enjoy.

OLIVER AND COMPANY
Oliver and comapny
Its pretty much Oliver Twist but with stray animals and a better soundtrack (IN MY OPINION!) Follow the adventures of the adorable kitten Oliver as he tries to find a home. P.s. The bad guy in this is actually pretty terrifying

I know I have probably missed a few out so please! Share your underrated Disney classic in the comments section ❤
